Chapter 1
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a teenager who was popular once and is now like one of the most unpopular in your high school? Of course not! No one gives a damn about it until it actually happens? Yeah, that kind of happened to me at Clearwater High.
I guess I'm considered lucky to have two friends that are over the top. Miley Castillo is a girl with a very cowgirl type. She absolutely loves horseback riding and doing other outdoor activities. Chloe Grace on the other hand is a total Potterhead. She just can't put down her Harry Potter books. She's an absolute romance-smart kind of girl and is not nice when she doesn't get enough sleep.
Well, so far it sounds really good right? Wrong! What makes my life a living nightmare is Daphne Davenport. She's popular, pretty and smart. Guys literally fall in love with her at first sight. Daphne was my friend but now... she's just cruel! She treats unpopulars (like I am now) like dirt. And what's worse is that she has two magnificent cronies, Nicole Andres and Layla Anderson.
I was just looking out of my classroom window. The view of my high school is the best. Well, at least better than the one back at home. My older brother, Adam Carson, is always ruining my life. He's at college, but he comes home every week for some “family sharing time”. Fat chance. He just likes to invite his jock friends over and play video games. Other than that, he also brings his girlfriend, Amanda Castillo, also known as Miley’s older sister, over so he could snog her in his room.
Miley already knows he's dating her, of course, and actually feels great about it. “Think about it, Em. We could be sisters-in-law if they marry!” Ugh, that's disgusting. As if I'll be an aunt at the age of 17. I cannot believe that he's dating my best friend's sister.
“Miss Carson, please tell me the awnser of this question,” said my maths teacher, Mr Larson. Oh damn, this is what happens to us in class. Hey, we're privately thinking of our horrible life here! And teachers don't give a damn about it. I wish I could go to America, but instead I'm stuck in London.
Just great. I'll either just have to confess to my teacher what a cruddy life I have, or I could just hope out of luck for the right answer. Just then, the magnificent chorus of the school bell rings throughout my class room. “Homework: Page 22, questions 1 to 10!” Mr Larson yells over the scrapping of chairs and the chatter of students.
“Should I say it?” Miles asked as I reach for my backpack. “What?” I ask as we walk out of the classroom. “Officially saved by the bell.” But I don't hear her, someone catches my eye as he walks down the stairs.
